Seminar Chan (residential) - Glarisegg (Steckborn)

This non-residential seminar will be dedicated to CHAN.

The practice consists of alternating periods of meditation and walking, suddenly interrupted by percussion and a return to sitting.
The dress worn during the practice makes it possible to harmonize the movements and to become aware of the spatiality of the body.

Daniel Odier, Ming Qing, teaches Chan from the lineage of Chao-chou, (778-897) emblematic master of the Tang dynasty from which he received the transmission by master Jing Hui, disciple of Xu Yun, and was recognized as Sifu.

Chan is a direct transmission from heart/mind to heart/mind, apart from the texts.
The use of kongan (koan in Japanese), enigmatic and direct questions, makes it possible to test the comprehension and the spontaneity of the disciples. Three answers from Chao-chou make it possible to perceive the immediacy of Chan, its depth and its cutting aspect which allows the disciple to see the nudity of his own spirit.

 A monk asks:

"What happens when I seek to be a Buddha"?
- What a waste of energy.
"What if I don't waste energy"?
- In this case, you are a Buddha.

"What happens when a man tries to save his head which is on fire"?
- Study.
"Where"?
- Don't put yourself in someone else's shoes.

"What happens when the mind is not perceived by the mind itself"?
- Who is perceived"?
"The Self is perceived".
- There are no two selves.
